5/15/25 An important message from the NAAE President

Colleagues and friends,

Through the decades the Old NAAE built a proud tradition of steadfast advocacy. In recent years we have carried that legacy forward and reshaped the organization for the challenges of today. Together we opened the doors wider, invited greater participation, and showed every member that the union stands beside them.

These are unprecedented times for our profession and for the world. I have watched with deep pride as elected members and committee members stepped up for one another with energy, compassion, and resolve. Your spirit is the reason NAAE will stay strong and grow even stronger.

Unfortunately, my health now requires my full attention. After careful reflection, I will relinquish the presidency effective June 13, 2025, and Austen Cole Gandy will take the role of President. This decision was not made lightly, and it is not a departure from the cause we share. I will remain available to consult and to offer guidance whenever asked.

I accepted this office because NAAE needed someone ready for the challenge. I leave it knowing that the hands guiding the union are capable, confident, and committed. The reverence we hold for the Old NAAE and the momentum of the New NAAE will carry us forward together.

Thank you for the privilege of serving beside you.

In solidarity,

Christian Russe

President, NAAE (outgoing)
